The Optymistic Guide is divided into 11 topics. At the beginning of each topic is a contents list, matched to National Curriculum Levels, from 4/5 up to 8.
For each topic, students should choose where to start, using the contents list.
Levels 4&5 should be treated as revision checklists. Students deal with any weaknesses here, looking for what they will need to strengthen.
They know the date of the end-of-topic test. They decide what they should do in levels
6-8 in that time, with advice from the teacher if needed. You would be amazed at how much keen students will do in their own time.
Then students start to romp, as they want to get as high up the levels as they can. A comprehensive list of instructions is provided for both teacher and students at the front of the book.
The material in this book can also be taught in the usual way.
