Unsung heroes in schools are generally unsung because they are not on the front line. They are chefs, cooks, dinner ladies, kitchen workers, kitchen managers, catering managers, restaurant managers, caretakers and site managers.
As you look at that list you will, I am sure, agree that such members of your team often don’t get the recognition and encouragement they deserve.
And that’s why we are running the National Unsung Heroes Awards.
There is no charge for entering the awards – and nomination is very straightforward. In fact the quickest and easiest way to submit a nomination is via the nomination form on our website. And it is worth noting that you can nominate more than one colleague for an award.
I’d also add that being shortlisted is a great achievement and a real morale booster for both the individual and the school. Indeed there are few things you can do to improve performance, attitude and commitment that are as powerful as nominating your people for an “Unsung Heroes” Award.
