At the moment when students leave school…
Whether your protégés are moving on to higher education or entering the employment world, the occasion of “leaving school” after many years is a momentous one.
I have come across all sorts of different ways in which students and schools commemorate the leaving of school – and I have written before about the topic of yearbooks.
But what I have noticed is that a growing number of schools are becoming involved in a commemorative leavers’ shirt, hoodie or other garment – and I am told these are increasingly popular.
As always with these notes I’ve selected one supplier and asked them for information on what they do – in this case LeaversGear.com
LeaversGear.com have developed a complete online ordering and payment system. Once the garments have been ordered (probably by your head boy or girl) they set up an online shop and students log in and pay for their own garment.
But, and this is the bit I liked, there are actually some real people at the on-line shop LeaversGear.com and they do respond to phone and e-mail enquiries (which is in fact why I come to write about them, rather than anyone else).
Apparently most of their customers order in this way, and they are also willing to take part payment so they can get on with your order awaiting the final balance.
You can email them at enquiries@leaversgear.com or phone them at 0870 744 2924, and there is more information for schools at http://www.leaversgear.com/docs/teacherguide.pdf
Finally, if you do decide to use them, and encourage your students and their parents to use the company’s on-line shop, don’t forget to tell your colleagues in the school office that this time there won’t be extra cheques to collect or money to handle.
