Peter Pan the Musical

“Peter Pan the Musical stands up alongside Oliver and Joseph as one of the best”

JAMES WESTALL, Director of Music at Sedbergh Junior School in Cumbria, talks about the production he staged last June:

“Our production of Piers Chater Robinson’s Peter Pan Musical was a great success.

We played to full houses on all four nights and the Headmaster of the Senior School said it was our best production ever. The children involved loved every aspect of it.

The story itself is always going to be a winner but the best aspect is probably the music. The songs are brilliant – from the humour of Rich Damp Cake to the beautifully moving Don’t Say Goodbye.

The characters are ideal for school children and it was easy to cast. We had an extremely strong Wendy and Peter – it helps if you have talented children in the main parts.

We did the flying by clever stage management and suitably timed blackout – we had special staging that moved backwards on the last line of the song Come Away and the main characters held a suitable flying pose into darkness.

I cut the band down to piano and drums – this arrangement worked well and all the soloists had radio mics.

This is the second time I have put on Peter Pan (previously with Casterton School) and I would say it stands up alongside Oliver and Joseph as one of the best productions for Key Stages 3 and 4.”

Here’s another school’s comments on their production…

“It’s fantastic and I really enjoyed performing it. It was the best few months of my life.”
“Thank you for creating such humourous, multi-faceted characters and wonderful catchy songs.”
