Buying musical instruments
Buying musical instruments
Does one use the local music store, or go online?
Having worked in a moderate sized town where the one and only music shop first went through a phase of cutting back on the range of products it sold before suddenly closing down, I do appreciate the problem of finding a reliable source of decent quality instruments for pupils and students.
One solution, of course, is to buy the instruments on-line – but the difficulty there is that much of the time one needs guidance and advice. Parents quite often don’t want to play the instrument (because of their own lack of musical ability) but they do want someone to talk to who is going to give decent advice.
So it’s interesting to see that Karacha.com (whom I have mentioned before), which describes itself as “the online destination for quality musical instruments and accessories,” also says that it offers, “… sound impartial advice and online buying guides for both beginner and expert level musicians.”
I mention all this today because Karacha has announced that it now supplies Carmichael student level instruments, and I am told by my colleagues teaching woodwind and sax that these are worthy of a look and listen. Until now the number of stores selling Carmichael instruments has seemed to be very limited (although I’ve no idea why this is so), so an online store does expand the options.
Apart from the instruments Carmichael also do packs containing music stand, music book, instructional DVD, instrument stand, and instrument care kits.
The Carmichael instruments are available for review with instrument demos featured online at www.Karacha.com allowing both you and the pupil (and parent) to see and hear the entire range of instruments being played before making a purchase.
According to the publicity documents I have seen Karacha.com, began when Managing Director, Adam Ewart was a nineteen year old saxophone playing student. Since then Karacha.com has grown to become one of the UK’s leading online musical instrument stores. Let’s hope it’s the alternative that many of us are looking for.
